 Don't use a microwave when preparing home-cooked dishes for your dog. It is definitely a no-go!For more information on this point click Microwave Hazards! If you make your own recipes don't include onion. That is because onion can damage animals' red blood cells, causing a serious blood disorder. Dr. Dana Kellerman, a board-certified veterinary doctor of animal internal medicine at Pittsburgh Veterinary Internal Medicine, confirms that onion, even in small amounts, may cause hemolytic anemia and should never be given to dogs or cats. Garlic, however, has not posed a problem, the animal internist says. Another serious mismatch is Dalmatians and liver. They can't digest it properly, so give polka-dot pups another type of treat. Many common foods are actually harmful or even fatal to dogs. Dogs can't digest most vegetables (carrots, green beans, lettuce, potatoes or yams) and potato peels are very dangerous to them.
